Jib Cranes – Portable Modular JibFlex
23rd October, 2021 | by materialshandlingAdd efficiency and safety to your manual handling processes with our innovative JibFlex. It ergonomically improves a worksite and processes by easily carrying and moving loads of up to 500 kg. With a flexible jib arm, this portable lifting tool enables free movement. That means, the operator can effectively navigate loads through openings, around corners and obstacles.
JibFlex is a very flexible lifting tool due to its versatility given by its unique design. It truly removes the strain from your personnel. 5th September, 2022 | by support.gocreative
What is material handling equipment?
Material handling equipment is an umbrella term to include a variety of different machinery, tools and other systems for the purpose of moving, storing, controlling or protecting different materials. Whether you’re handling product and stock, or moving goods and machinery around your worksite, material handling solutions are essential.
Ensuring safety
Safe working practices and environments are undeniably a top priority. By implementing and using robust solutions for handling materials and equipment designed to ensure safe operation, you can rest easy knowing your team (and your assets) are safe.
Productivity in operations
Material handling equipment is also very important to ensure the seamless operations of your business. The easier and more efficient your team is at handling materials of all types, the greater the improvement in overall productivity.
Maximise space
Space is often at a premium in workshops, factories and warehouses. With the right materials handling solutions you can make the most of every square inch of your space in a safe and efficient manner. Keeping the assets and goods of your worksite organised and ordered will also ensure greater accessibility and increase worker satisfaction.
What are the different types of material handling equipment?
Trailers and trucks
While trailers and trucks are more often than not thought of as vehicles (and they are), they’re also integral types of material handling equipment. Having the right trucks and compatible trailers will ensure you can easily load and transport the goods, products and stock you need.
Storage and handling equipment
Having the right equipment for both handling and safely storing your materials is essential for smooth operations and increased productivity. From bins, containers and benches to lockers, cabinets and pallet racking, storage equipment comes in a variety of models and types. Similarly, there’s a wide range of handling equipment for different sized, shaped and styled materials.
Materials and roll handling
If you work with large rolls of material, think tissue, fibreglass, cables or paper, then a roll handling solution is a must. There are a number of options when it comes to materials handling systems for rolls as well, so every type of roll and material can be catered for.
Best materials handling equipment

1. Pallet Handling
For companies using and working with pallets there’s simply no getting around investing in good pallet handling equipment. The right equipment will keep your goods undamaged, your workers uninjured and your operations uninterrupted.

2. Container/truck loading
Having a truck or trailer is one thing, but loading your bulk goods onto it or into it is quite another. Make sure to check out our conveyors for both loading and unloading containers and trucks for easy and safe use.
3. Castors and wheels
Mobility and ‘moveability’ is often important in a workspace that demands flexibility. Castor and wheel solutions can be a simple and affordable solution that won’t impact your material handling ability in a negative way.

4. Ergonomic lift devices
Ergonomic lift devices allow for effective handling of materials and equipment in a sustainable way that won’t put the wellbeing or health of your team at risk. Depending on the particular application of your device, there’s a wide range of ergonomic lift device options, such as the Arm Lift and Tilt Device.
5. Forklift attachments
Forklifts are part and parcel of many warehouses and factories. By the same token, having the right forklift attachments and accessory products, like a forklift jack, is an important component of any materials handling solution.

6. Hydraulic equipment
Hydraulic equipment such as the platform stacker, which uses liquid and pressure to lift large or heavy objects, can be a practical solution for a wide variety of work spaces.

7. Material lifters
Lifting and moving materials safely is extraordinarily important. Materials Handling’s counterbalanced materials lifter, for example, is an ergonomic and industry-complaint solution for lifting all types of goods and products.

8. Reel & roll handling
As outlined above in more detail, reel and roll material handling equipment will ensure your workflow is uninterrupted and as seamless as possible.

9. Trailers
Trailers come in all sizes and styles to suit the particular needs you might have. Whether you’re after a solution for moving heavy goods or a simple trailer for moving small parts, there’s a ton of options available.

10. Weighing equipment
If your workshop or worksite needs reliable weighing equipment with durability and heavy duty features as well, make sure to check out our waterproof check weighing scales.
11. Sweepers equipment
Sweepers equipment may not seem like an example of a materials handling solution but these fantastic portable and flexible cleaning equipment can be game-changing for many applications.

12. Truck & cranes
You don’t get bigger materials handling solutions than trucks and cranes. Of course, there’s still plenty of scope to find the particular size and type for your needs.

Pallet fork
19th April, 2022 | by support.gocreative

Pallet forks are an essential piece of equipment in any workspace, warehouse or factory that uses and moves around pallets.
There are a wide variety of pallet fork attachments out there all ranging in height, width, weight, carrying capacity, material and application of use. Even the number of ‘forks’ can vary with some pallet forks boasting just two prongs and others with up to 5.
Pallet forks are mostly made from high quality steel, including the ones here at Materials Handling.
Find out more about our range of pallet forks and hooks today!
What sizes do pallet forks come in?
Pallet forks come in a wide range of sizes. The general industry standard of carrying capacity is somewhere between 1,400 and 3,000 kilograms. Depending on what sort of material and loads you’re moving and transporting, will determine which kind of pallet fork is right for you.
How wide is a pallet fork?
Small pallet forks generally start at around 1,200 millimetres in width, while the larger models can get to twice that at 2,400 millimetres width.
When you’re choosing the right pallet fork for your particular application make sure you consider the layout and space of not just your pallets but your worksite. You will need to be able to easily manoeuvre the pallet fork through the space.
How to choose the right pallet fork?
Standards
The first thing to do when choosing your pallet fork, is to conduct due diligence on the supplier. Make sure the manufacturer of the fork meets all of the required industry standards including:
- ITA
- ANSI
- ISO
- ASME
- EMI
Take the time to discuss their quality control processes and measures before you buy. Ask them about the materials they use, the inspections they carry out and more.
Rating
All pallet forks should come with an individual rating. This rating will give you an indication of what sort of work it is capable of doing safely. Part of this rating will include whether it is 20-inch or 24-inch load centre rating. It’s really important that the pallet fork you choose meets the rating requirements of the job at hand.
Quality
Your pallet fork is likely going to be subject to extensive use so you need to be reassured that your equipment will be able to last and be durable under the wear and tear.
Speak to the experts
The best way to make sure you choose the right pallet fork is by speaking to the experts. The team here at Materials Handling are always available to speak to you about any questions, concerns or applications. So get in touch with our team today!

Drum Safety Vents and Bung Locks
3rd March, 2017 | by excitemediaSafety drum vents facilitate safe waste solvent disposal whilst offering protection.
Utilising the automatic pressure and vacuum relief, the valve provides emergency pressure venting in the event of a fire to avoid drum failure and catastrophic consequences.
All safety drum vents automatically relieve pressure between 30 to 55kPa (3 and 8 psi) and include a flame arrester to absorb and safely dissipate heat.
A valve within the vent is tested to allow 1 litre of water through a 9.5 mm (3/8 inch) pipe nipple in less than 6 seconds for vacuum relief during drum dispensing operations.
This permits smooth liquid flow and prevents the possible drum collapse and leakage. The vacuum relief is automatic on vertically-installed vents and manual on horizontally-installed vents.
