  • What are your options for pedestrian safety systems?

    21st January, 2021 | by
Flex Impact Barrier Solutions read more

You might think that finding the right pedestrian safety system for your workplace is a nightmare, but it’s nothing compared to investing in subpar or ineffective systems that could put your workers, your operations and your business at risk.

Why you need a pedestrian safety system

Apart from the ethical and moral considerations, there is a practical necessity to having a robust safety system in your factory or warehouse. In the unfortunate event that an accident occurring, your business could suffer extensive damage to assets, buildings, products and vehicles. Small accidents can have very large consequences.

If an injury were to occur, you’ll additionally be facing potential Workers Compensation claims and the need for additional or replacement hiring. Not to mention a workplace that does not adequately invest in appropriate safety systems is likely to suffer from an increase in staff turnover and a decrease in productivity as morale lowers. Protecting your workers and your business is incredibly important. Plus, it’s the right thing to do too.

    How to improve pedestrian safety

The term pedestrian refers to any individual who is walking or travelling on foot rather than in a vehicle. In many workplaces, some workers move on foot in and amongst others using vehicles, such as trucks or forklifts.

Implementing pedestrian safety measures requires a comprehensive evaluation of the workplace, especially with consideration of high-risk factors that could cause accidental damage or serious injuries. So what are the options for pedestrian safety systems?

Flex Impact – maximum flexibility, minimal accidents

The Flex Impact system from our team at Materials Handling Pty Ltd is the number one recommended product on the market. Its modular design offers incredible flexibility and workplace functionality. Materials Handling Pty Ltd offer a wide range of products, and, as such, the company has the ability to customise a solution to suit just about any application. Combining these factors with an innovative solution like Flex Impact ensures economic affordability and increased workplace effectiveness.

    Flex Impact Barrier Solutions

    Flex Impact Barrier Solutions

    The benefits of Flex Impact

    Polymer safety barrier

An innovative aspect of our pedestrian safety system is the material composition of the polymer barrier. The highly durable design features the same strength and resilience of old-fashioned steel barriers but with longer-lasting effectiveness. While steel and other conventional barriers are likely to chip, dent and get destroyed over time, polymer products last much, much longer without looking worse for wear. When a collision does happen between a Flex Impact safety barrier and a vehicle, the barrier will simply spring back into its original shape. No harm is done to it, no damage is done to your floor or building, and no damage done to your vehicle.

    Tested to high standards

A pedestrian safety system is only as good as the safety it provides. That’s why our team rigorously tests our products to ensure every aspect of its design and installation. From running a series of collision tests to keeping abreast of the latest workplace safety standards and regulations, when you rely on a Flex Impact system, you have high-quality workplace barrier protection for life

    Practical system solution

An important part of what makes the Flex Impact system so popular is that thanks to its modular design, it’s highly adaptable. Safety systems are not a “one size fits all” kind of product. The right solution adapts to and caters the specific layout, function and design of any workspace. Whether it’s the modular construction or its eye-catching design, there’s no better option for ensuring the safety of your workers than Flex Impact.

    No maintenance

A steel or metal barrier and bollard system often requires ongoing maintenance to fix and repair damage caused to it by high-impact collision. If the steel barrier is painted, small scrapes and scratches can cause the paint to wear away significantly. Not only does this create a bit of an eyesore but it can also affect the integrity of the system as a safety solution. When you have high levels of traffic and many moving vehicles, having a brightly coloured and easy-to-spot barrier is invaluable. Flex Impact barriers are coloured to the core and don’t bend, dent, chip or break when collided against. Their flexible design ensures they return back to their original shape after impact. No maintenance means no worries.

    Complete safety system solution

Most safety systems on the market have restricted functionalities and configurations. They also provide low-quality and unaffordable designs that cannot withstand high-risk environments. That’s where Flex Impact comes in as a comprehensive safety solution. Thanks to its many components, you can tailor barrier protection that suits your working environment. If you need Safety Gates, Bollards, Traffic Barrier Rails and Column or Racking Protection, Flex Impact has you covered (and with so many more options). The versatility of Flex Impact systems makes it a preferred choice!

If you’re looking to set up your own pedestrian safety system that segregates workers from traffic or hazards, then here are some considerations you should ensure, including:

    • Handrails at an effective height
    • Durable pedestrian and vehicle traffic barriers
    • Reliable free-standing bollards
    • Highly visual colouring and line marking for floors
    • Easy to apply pictograms for flooring
    • Practical safety gates
    • Doorway height restrictors
    • Rack damage protectors in the form of Rack End Barriers and Rack Bulls
    • Comprehensive workplace safety design and planning

Flex Impact ensures the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians. It creates safe roads and safe pathways that segregate hazards by providing risk-free working areas. This improves worker productivity and business effectiveness, especially with a system that is cost-effective and long-lasting.

Let Materials Handling handle your safety system

As you can see, there’s quite a lot to take into consideration when evaluating the different options for your workplace safety and protection. It can be easy to blow out your budget trying to provide comprehensive safety without having a robust and effective system in place.

Flex Impact products offer a truly safe and innovative solution that is not only long term and protects your team and assets but also provides a smart financial and business solution. No maintenance, easy to install, long-lasting, less downtime, less injury and fewer accidents.
