Pallet forks are an essential piece of equipment in any workspace, warehouse or factory that uses and moves around pallets.

There are a wide variety of pallet fork attachments out there all ranging in height, width, weight, carrying capacity, material and application of use. Even the number of ‘forks’ can vary with some pallet forks boasting just two prongs and others with up to 5.

Pallet forks are mostly made from high quality steel, including the ones here at Materials Handling.

Find out more about our range of pallet forks and hooks today!

What sizes do pallet forks come in?

PHA2000 2 watermark copy 209x300 1Pallet forks come in a wide range of sizes. The general industry standard of carrying capacity is somewhere between 1,400 and 3,000 kilograms.

Depending on what sort of material and loads you’re moving and transporting, will determine which kind of pallet fork is right for you.

How wide is a pallet fork?

Small pallet forks generally start at around 1,200 millimetres in width, while the larger models can get to twice that at 2,400 millimetres width.

When you’re choosing the right pallet fork for your particular application make sure you consider the layout and space of not just your pallets but your worksite. You will need to be able to easily manoeuvre the pallet fork through the space.

How to choose the right pallet fork?
    Standards

The first thing to do when choosing your pallet fork, is to conduct due diligence on the supplier. Make sure the manufacturer of the fork meets all of the required industry standards including:

    • ITA
    • ANSI
    • ISO
    • ASME
    • EMI

Take the time to discuss their quality control processes and measures before you buy. Ask them about the materials they use, the inspections they carry out and more.

    Rating

All pallet forks should come with an individual rating. This rating will give you an indication of what sort of work it is capable of doing safely. Part of this rating will include whether it is 20-inch or 24-inch load centre rating. It’s really important that the pallet fork you choose meets the rating requirements of the job at hand.

    Quality

Your pallet fork is likely going to be subject to extensive use so you need to be reassured that your equipment will be able to last and be durable under the wear and tear.

    Speak to the experts

The best way to make sure you choose the right pallet fork is by speaking to the experts. The team here at Materials Handling are always available to speak to you about any questions, concerns or applications. So get in touch with our team today!

With hand-operated or hands-free, foot pedal operation, these bins assist in the disposal of oil and solvent-soaked rags.

Oily Waste Cans protect facilities from fires that start due to spontaneous combustion, sparks and careless use of combustible material. Rags and cloths soaked with solvents, thinners, linseed oil, combustible adhesives and other flammable liquids present a serious fire risk when improperly discarded.

The Waste Can lid opens to no more than 60 degrees, self-closing and stays closed when not in use, isolating contents from fire sources and limiting oxygen to virtually eliminate the risk of combustion.

Round construction and elevated base allows circulation of air around the can to disperse any heat and reduce moisture build-up that may cause rusting.

Durable steel construction with a powder-coat finish provides chemical resistance.

Large Area Magnetic Sweeper hero read more

With our lightweight and durable Magnetic Sweeper, you can reduce punctures and increase safety. Sweeping along the ground, they gather nails, staples, sharps, and steel offcuts that cause thousands of dollars in tyre repairs and other damage. They suit parking lots, building sites, warehouses and facilities, huge factories, wharves, and cargo areas.

Large Area Magnetic Sweepers (L.A.M.S) provide the answer to ensuring workplaces are clean and free from nasties that may cause damage or pose a hazard. With a robust design in stainless steel and aluminium, they are lightweight and a great materials handling solution.

These devices feature a far-reaching Neodymium magnet element to ensure no steel object escapes. They are available in 1.5 or 2.1-metre widths and can be towed or pushed by vehicles such as forklifts, tractors, trucks, ride-on mowers and so on. They skim the surface at a height of about 50 mm; with the inboard wheels, operators can sweep against walls and fences. A manual winch lifts the internal magnet element, to release collected ferrous material.

  • Conveyor Track – Gravity Wheel

    Floway read more

Our carton flow tracks are ideal for the transfer of lightweight materials and order picking scenarios like carton live storage. The roller wheels are suitable for transporting small crates, boxes, cartons and tote containers. They can be used as part of storage systems, in packing stations, assembly areas, for machine feeding etc. They are also ideal as side guides on some conveyor applications.

The steel track is a folded 0.8mm zinc-plated steel profile and will not distort under load. The rollers are pitched (distance between shaft centres) at 28 mm as standard. It is possible to change the pitch of the rollers at any stage along the track, for example – pitch centre 42 or 56mm. The rollers are 25 mm diameter, polyethylene with a 3mm steel axle with a low rolling coefficient of friction and very quiet operation.

    Operating temperature: -30 to +40° C
Load per wheel (static/dynamic): 10 kg

  • Quick-Lift Rail

    3rd March, 2017 | by
    QLR300i copy read more

Our Quick-Lift Rail (QLR) unit is an intelligent lifting device for repetitive ergonomic handling. An impressive crane rail-mounted solution that can be fitted to a new or existing crane rail system to complete materials handling and heavy lifting actions.

The manoeuvre handle senses the up and down force from the operator. The lifting motion of the motor then reflects this force. Regardless of the load, only 20 grams of operating force is required to lift loads up to 600kg.

When the handle is released the load is in balance allowing the operator to use both hands to move the load freely, with minimal force. The handle is attached to the gripping device and is close to the load to increase operator feel and awareness.
