Materials Handling attended the Queensland Supply Chain and Logistics Conference in September.
Held at the Sofitel Hotel in Brisbane, the show is known to attract many representatives and key industry decision-makers from all over Australia. The two-day event featured presentations from national and international guest speakers, and workshops.

Port-A-Guard Maxi adds a new level of versatility for expanding barriers. With a reduced gap between the floor and the bottom of the barrier and a smaller opening size between the slats, the Maxi offers a great level of security and safety. A combination of non-corrosive aluminium slats, galvanised slide components and stainless steel fixings means the guard is suited to both indoor and outdoor applications. They come in heights of 1430mm or 1800mm from ground to top of slats and there are either 6.7 or 7.8 metre wide models available.
Port-A-Guard Maxi comes with four heavy duty, locking swivel castors and central fixed dolly wheels making these portable safety barriers easy to move from one location to another. The DB units are supplied minus one of the BPGM-RF locking castor feet, so they can be permanently mounted to an existing post or wall at one end using one of the two BPGM-WR wall receiver brackets. They then can be rolled out to another wall or post using the other wall receiver. The wheels are extended for extra stability and the units can be linked together to form a continuous barrier.

Vital brand lever blocks are globally recognised for their high-quality products. With capacities from 0.25 to 9 tonnes, these lever blocks are an exceptionally sturdy, highly versatile tool for a multitude of lifting, pulling, tensioning and securing applications. The two series of lever chain blocks have the following features.
The NR-series lever blocks have capacities from 0.25 – 9 tonne and feature the “free-wheeling” braking system which enables fast and easy operation. There is a minimum load requirement of 10% of the Working Load Limit to ensure that the braking system remains operative and continues to support the load. These lever blocks are ideally suited for the shipbuilding, construction, mining and power transmission industries. All devices comply with Australian Standards.
The VR-series lever blocks have capacities from 0.8 – 6.3tonne and feature a “lock-in and lock-out” braking system which is the more traditional style with a free-wheeling design requiring the disengagement of the gear drive mechanism which is impossible with any load suspended on it. These lever blocks are ideally suited for the (underground) mining, aerospace and energy industries.
Available from 250kg to 30 tonne the JDN pneumatic hoists are one of the safest and most cost efficient methods for pulling, lifting or lowering above or below ground here explosive atmospheres may occur. They have a tough compact construction, are low maintenance, immune to dust, mud, heat, vapour and ideal for use in mines, chemical plants and paint shops. They require only compressed air and have a 100% duty cycle and are available with either pull cord or pendant controls. A failsafe locking brake operates automatically in case of air supply failure. They are fitted with 3m height of lift chains, but can be reconfigured to suit the desired height. They can also be fitted with push, geared or air powered trolleys as required.

Extendaflex conveyors are mobile, flexible, extendable conveyors that can be easily arranged for moving goods in warehouse and storage applications as well as loading or unloading vehicles or shipping containers. Available with a choice of plastic or steel skate wheels or plastic tube rollers, all models are designed to ensure self-tracking of the cargo.
All conveyors extend to a maximum length of 7500mm with height adjustable legs. The leg sets are fitted with swivel castors for mobility and alternating castors are fitted with a foot locking brake. Each conveyor can be fitted with an optional joining link to connect to another Extendaflex. This allows you to connect multiple units together and create whatever length you require! It is also possible to fit a carton stop to prevent the product from rolling off the end. This carton stop folds away when not needed or when using a joining link.
Choose skate wheels for products with a smooth base or conveyor rollers for products with an irregular base. The standard models are supplied with a zinc-plated finish with the option to supply in stainless steel construction. All skate wheels and conveyor rollers are 50mm in diameter.

The loading capacity of 5 leg units is 150 kg per metre, the 7 leg units are 200 kg per metre and the 8 leg units are 250 kg per metre.

Lifting Clamp with a very large opening for handling of products with parallel sides.
The lifting clamp is fitted with an open-position locking mechanism that allows the clamp to be placed onto the load. The pads are articulated (hanged) and are available with polyurethane coating.
Suitable for products made of various materials such as wood, concrete, steel, plastic, rock, rubber, foam, and cardboard boxes.
Adjust the opening of the clamp by moving the pads along the adjustment beam on either side (adjustment from 200 to 1000 mm in 100 mm increments).
Press the open clamp against the top of the load. Release the retaining hooks and lift the load. When the load is set down simply return the retaining hooks to their locking pins to lock the clamp open.
