An overhead load arrestor is a secondary safety device used in tandem with primary lifting gear (such as a hoist) to automatically stop a suspended load from falling in the event the main support should fail.

The load arrest protects people and equipment below with a retractable cable that is attached to dynamic loads in industrial, construction, and entertainment settings.

Guard load arrestors have a high-strength retractable rope that follows the movement of the load. They can be attached to equipment that needs to be moved, but also attached to static (non-moving) loads.

What is a load arrestor?

Load arrestors provide a safety backup for overhead loads. They are used in conjunction with a primary lifting device or support, such as a hoist or fixed anchorage point.

If the primary support fails, the load arrestor will automatically stop the load from falling, preventing damage to the load and protecting people below.
