As a facilities management organisation, Compass Group Australia assists a range of companies and offers many opportunities to improve efficiencies, all while maintaining a high level of customer service. One specific client they are responsible for is the Australian Defence Force and they service multiple sites nationally.

Most recently, the Australian Defence Force required a product that could easily move and lift heavy washing machines, freezers, dryers and similar goods, across a network of external staircases and landings. The goal was to find a solution that would aid repetitive manual handling actions when relocating Defence Force personnel.

Compass Group Australian approached us with this manual handling problem, and the Materials Handling sales team provided a range of options to improve the overall safety of the Australian Defence Force processes. After discussions and site visits, the CargoMaster BCC160 ComfortStep Stair Climber proved to be the right fit to support such strenuous handling requirements.

The CargoMaster Stair Climber is comfortable and safe to use!

The design and balancing abilities of the CargoMaster ComfortStep ensures an operator can effortlessly manoeuvre goods, both up and down staircases. Its automatic extending lifting legs make it easy to use and incredibly intuitive. The operator only needs to keep the trolley balance and the unit will handle the rest. Another excellent design feature of the CargoMaster that proves to be a winner is its step control functionality. This feature stops any forward motion on the unit as it reaches the edge of each staircase ledge. This ensures complete trust when moving heavy loads.

Compass Group Australia purchased 16 units, which will be rolled out to each Defence Force site over the following three weeks. An initial product demonstration was provided at the Enoggera Army Barracks in Queensland, with six attendees. Photos and videos were taken to provide further instruction and Materials Handling received great feedback about the CargoMaster BCC160 unit.

The many stair climbers will be rolled out to Army Barrack sites Australia-wide and across all states. Personnel will undergo further product training, once the unit is received on site.

Materials Handling is happy to see another customer improve their processes and ensure their staff work ergonomically and safely.
